The Power

Our debut at the Women’s Power Summit - Bahrain was a success. There were some scary moments of course. Setting up the booth, hoping people would listen and be engaged, talking non-stop, exuding high energy and a can do spirit, WHILE trying to figure out how to take a bathroom break in 45 seconds so that not one potential reader overlooked, was totally nerve wracking.

The entire Summit was a real celebration of the innovation of women in the region. I can’t tell you how honored I was to be there.

Although it was hectic, and there were moments where I legitimately wanted people to go away so I could sip my tea in peace, when it came right down to it, it was a joy and a delight to be included as a entrepreneur in the Power Summit Entrepreneurs Village with the opportunity to speak to literally hundreds of women who came by the booth. I came away from the experience with so many opportunities and ideas (which I will be sharing with you on the site soon) and most importantly - I felt empowered to keep going with Tousled!

Power is nothing if you don’t exercise it though.

October we celebrated women at the Women’s Power Summit. The month of November (better known in the hair community as Movember ) is dedicated to men. If you ever wonder why all of a sudden you see a lot of questionable looking mustaches popping up blame Movember. Much like pink is everywhere to show solidarity with breast cancer awareness in October, men grow their facial hair NON STOP all month (shudder) to show solidarity with healthcare issues that especially impact men.

Just so you know, Movember focuses on the three key areas:

  1. Prostate cancer;

  2. Testicular cancer; and

  3. Mental health & suicide prevention

This month we need to get active and raise vital funds for research in these areas and create spaces to have powerful and often life-changing conversations about these serious issues.

Millions have joined the Movember movement to disrupt the status quo of manly silence and suffering through these life threatening conditions by raising $911M and funding over 1,250 projects.

All month right here on Tousled we are going to be transferring some of our power to men everywhere through focused posts on the website and on social media about men’s hair products, hair services, and styles. Of course, there will also be information you can share with the men in your life about Movember key areas of awareness and focus.

Get your man to grow a mustache… or if he’s sporting a food catcher allow him to let it grow wild for the month and find a charitable initiative to support this wonderful cause!

Welcome to sweet Movember!
